Bulletin of domestic cathode copper production in April

2020-05-13 15:26:49

Beijing, May 13 (Antaike)-According to Antaike’s survey results, in April, 22 sample companies produced a total of 694,000 tons of copper cathode, which was basically stable compared with the same period last year, with a month-on-month increase of 4.3% (The revised output was 666,000 tons in March).

Zijin (Huichun), Yunnan Tin, Yuguang Gold & Lead, and ZTS Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. had maintenance plans, which made a certain effects on copper cathode. The tight supply of raw materials also has caused some difficulties to the normal production of smelters. On the positive side, the sales difficult of sulfuric acid and the overstock of refined copper has been better alleviated. From January to April, the sample enterprises produced 2.666 million tons of copper cathode, down 3.7% year on year.

In addition, the epidemic in South America and Africa spread severely in March and April. Major copper resource countries in the world adopted strict blockade measures, which led to the tight supply of copper concentrate. The turnover days of copper concentrate in domestic smelters and inventory in ports generally showed a declining trend, which affected the normal production of some enterprises. At the same time, considering the shipping schedule, more negative impact on domestic smelting production is expected to be reflected in May. Therefore, it is estimated that the output of copper cathode in China in May will be stable on a month-on-month basis, with a significant increase on a year-on-year basis (the production base of copper cathode is low due to the centralized maintenance of smelters in the same period last year). The output of copper cathode in 22 sample enterprises is expected to reach about 695,000 tons.
