Antaike's output report on refined lead in April 2020

2020-06-05 10:55:34

Beijing, May 14 (Antaike)--Antaike’s lead output statistic covers 37 primary lead companies and 33 secondary lead companies, concerning 3.82Mt of primary lead capacity and 3.98Mtpy of secondary lead capacity (5.98Mt of dismantling capacity of waste batteries and 420kt of scrap lead processing capacity). They produced 414kt of refined lead in April, up 5.4% year on year and 78kt month on month, of which primary lead output was 213kt, up 4.0% year on year and 1.9% month on month, secondary lead output was 201kt, up 7.0% year on year and 57.9% month on month, accounting for 48.5% of the total refined lead output.

Total refined lead was 1.354Mt in Jan-Apr, down 10.5% year on year, of which primary lead output increased 1.4% and secondary lead output fell 25.1% on a yearly basis.

Primary lead output increment was mainly from Qinghai, Henan, where smelters resumed production from maintenance, as well as Hunan and Jiangxi, where smelters lift utilization rates. Of the united smelting enterprise, output increase was contributed by secondary lead, while primary lead was unchanged or declined.

Major secondary lead smelter had stable production. Companies in Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu resumed production or lift operation rates. But medium and small ones had lower utilization rate due to falling profit and unstable raw materials supply. Utilization rate of secondary lead smelters has recovered from the low level, but was hard to increase further restricted by the few cheap raw materials.

There will be output increment of secondary lead from Anhui and Jiangxi in May. Some primary lead smelters will take maintenance in Anhui and Inner Mongolia, concerning output of 13kt. Besides, production will also be influenced by the falling TC and profit, as well as sulfuric acid problems.

Antaike estimates refined lead output will increase 16kt in May.

Major primary lead smelters had 11kt of inventory in early May, down 30kt compared with early April.
