Beijing, Jun. 15(Antaike)-China's output of nickel cathode contracted by 4.5% m-o-m and plunged 10.8% y-o-y to 12,424 tons in May, 2021, the Antaike said.

The output of Jinchuan Group Co., Ltd. dropped 8.3% to 11,000 tons in May, affected by the upgrading maintenance of its smelter and sulphuric acid plant, and the production is expected to slightly resume after the end of maintenance in mid-Jun, that of Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry Co., Ltd. rose by 5.9% m-o-m to 1,074 tons. Jilin Ji'en Nickel Industry Co., Ltd. officially produced 350 tons of nickel cathode in May and it plans to produce 500 tons in Jun.

From Jan. to May of 2021, China totally produced 65kt of nickel cathode, decreasing 4.4% y-o-y. Antaike predicts the output will grow to 13,500 tons in Jun.
