China sees increase in NPI output in June

Industry NewsJul 15, 2021

Beijing, Jul. 15(Antaike)-China's NPI output went up 4.4% m-o-m to 38.3kt (kt in metal) in Jun., a decrease of 13.1% from last year, data from Antaike showed Tuesday.

In a breakdown by varieties, the output of high grade and low grade NPI hit 30.5kt and 7.8kt, with an m-o-m rise of 3.6% and 7.4%, respectively. The market sentiment on high grade NPI was bullish due to tight supply, and the production showed an upward trend owing to prospering downstream demand and the new projects put into operation. As some plants resumed production, as well as some plants did not successfully switched production, the output in low grade NPI also began to pick up.

China's output of NPI totaled 227kt in the first half of 2021, down 10.2% from that in 2020.
