Antaike, Jul.16(Beijing)-According to Antaike’s preliminary assessment, the output of refined cobalt in China was about 59kt in the first half of this year, up about 40.47% year on year, of this total, the output of cobalt metal was about 3,950t, down 29% from last year. As cobalt salt prices continued to have a higher premium to cobalt metal prices since early 2021, some domestic refined cobalt producers reduced or suspended production of cobalt metal, and switched to cobalt salt products such as cobalt salt and cobalt chloride, etc. During the same period, the output of cobalt metal was about 2.6kt, edging higher from that over the same period last year. The annual refined cobalt production is expected to reach 115kt-119kt in 2021, up 13.8% year on year.
