Stainless steel output in China edges down in June

Beijing, Aug. 6(Antaike)-The output of China's stainless steel edged down 1.4% m-o-m to hit 2.82 million tons in June, with a y-o-y gain of 6.9%, according to Antaike data.

The 300 series production grew 1.7% m-o-m and 18% y-o-y to 1.53 million tons, that of 200 series fell by 5.4% m-o-m and 11.8% y-o-y to 800kt and that of 400 series dropped 4.0% m-o-m while increased 12.9% y-o-y to 493kt.

This month Baosteel Desheng Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. expanded the production of carbon steel, thus the output of stainless steel was only 41kt. Furthermore, Jiuquan Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd. also reduced its production. In addition, several stainless steel mills in south China's Guangxi municipality cut production owing to power rationing.
