Antaike's output report on refined zinc in April 2021
Beijing, May. 21 (Antaike)--Antaike investigated 51 zinc refineries, concerning capacity of 6.30Mtpy, and showed that they produced 1.773Mt of zinc and zinc alloy in Jan-Apr 2021, up 6.3% year on year, of which April output was 438kt, rising 3.7% year on year and 13kt month on month, and average daily output increased by 6.4% month on month. Output was 426kt in March after correction, rising 7.1% year on year. Effect of some zinc refineries’ maintenance was weaker than expected, and some refineries lift utilization rates, that’s why monthly output was in positive growth.
Inventory at major zinc refineries was 33kt in early May, down 2.5kt compared with early April, and alloy inventory was still high.
TC was steady in May, with average TC of 3,900 yuan/t, up 100 yuan/t compared with April, TC increased in Shaanxi, Henan, Guangxi and Sichuan where refineries took maintenance and demand for zinc concentrate shrank; northeast region and Inner Mongolia remained steady; zinc concentrate in Yunnan was tight and some refineries slashed TC slightly.
In May, output from Yunnan, Xinjiang, Guangxi, Sichuan and Gansu will increase month on month, and output in Inner Mongolia will still be affected by the energy limitation policy. Meanwhile some refineries in Henan, Qinghai and Yunnan will take maintenance as scheduled.
It is estimated output will rise by 1.2kt month on month to around 440kt in May.
